Found a smarty on ebay

Its the s03. For a 98 to 02. Would this be good for an 02 auto. What's the latest software?
 
Probably would work well. I don't know if trans upgrades would be needed to safely run it, but it couldn't hurt. REVO is the latest software (last I knew) for the VP trucks.
 
Great programmer...

But, it will fry a stock transmission if you put it on the highest settings. Keep out of the high settings, and you will be fine.
 
very few, if any sellers on ebay are authorized dealers, if you ever have a problem with a smarty purchased on ebay, you run the risk of not having support. the price is only good if there are no problems, if there are, think of that as all lost money and the need to start over.
 
I wouldn't buy a Smarty from anyone but Bob Wagner. He has gotten me out of a few jambs now.
 
if it's used I guess it doesn't matter but, if it's new.... there's no warranty on it. Dealers aren't allowed to sell the Smarty on ebay
 
triton, biggest thing that scares me is if the thing shows up vinlocked.
 
Ya its used. Sorry i forgot to mention that. The guy said he bought it new, but he sold his truck and doesnt need it any more. His truck was an 01. Im using it on an 02. So far price is about half a new one.
 
Yeah, if you get it shipped and shows up locked your out your money cause the truck is gone that it was installed on. I love mine but on higher settings it will work on your trans, why I am get a new trans next week! But city driving from red lights are crazy! So much low end power is made, top end is lacking but stack it with a wire tap box and I hear it great!
 
you can get a smarty used on the forums for cheaper than on ebay. they typically go for 550 or so on there.
 
It did say in the add that it wasnt vin locked, but I would trust someone on here before I would on ebay.
