freezing point, starting trouble ?

both of mine start a little rough if they arent plugged in, but nothing out of the ordinary for a diesel in freezing weather...

If you are having problems starting, try running a good antigel additive and see what happens, it doesn't take much water in the fuel for problems to occur in cold weather.

I am having the same problem. if I do not plug it in it will not start and then cranks forever later on once it warms up. if I plug it in though it starts rough but at least it starts..

mine starts fine when it gets below 15 it will start harder but that was with smaller injectors i have bigger ones now so have to see how this winter is

cycle your key 3 times before you start it and it will fire right off. meaning let the glow plugs run 3 times. Hopefully your not getting low on compresion check your blowbye!

i remember how good my 01 would start in the winter, even at -20 not plugged in. My 94 is a frickin joke at 20 above not plugged in.

I am gonna try that cycle three times for the heater grid. do you eep yours plugged in while you cycle it??

yeah mine has ugly starts too but it never gets plugged in either. the starting seems a little longer before it cranks up in the colder temps

no ive never had to plug my truck in. But i have had instances where it wouldnt start unless i cycled the key 3 times.

r u high on starting fluid? You cant beat the 24v cummins in cold weather starting, im not talking cold weather runnability though. The intake heater is way ahead of glow plugs. Unless there is something wrong else where on the dodge. At -20 degrees, which is 52 degrees below freezing, the 7.3l ford wont start, the 6.6l durmax might start, my 01 cummins would fire right off the bat after 2-3 cycle of the intake heater, not plugged in.

FWIW dmax have both glow plugs and heater gird..

fords had both IDI and DI 7.3 IDI are harder to start then a DI

CTD Dmax are DI engines
