Front door speaker mounting issue

I wanted to upgrade my sound system in my truck so I went to Crutchfield and filled out the specs of my truck to see what would fit and it turns out only one shizy set of 6x9s fit or I have to go to a smaller size of speaker. I want 6x9s because of their power so I decided to see why nothing was fitting. I took the door panel off and I think nothing fits cuz the window will roll down and hit the back of the speaker.... The 6x9s I want to get are POLK AUDIO MM691 but they "don't fit" has anyone tried mounting the speakers through the plastic panel? That would give it more depth to fit wouldn't it? Can I see some pics and things of solutions you guys have found concerning this problem?

Thanks :)

why dont you just put a spacer in there to pull it forward and then see if the panel still fits ?

you could always make a speaker ring and cut a hole in the panel and put the ring on the outside to gain interior space and then fiberglass and cover the new piece

I never had any speaker NOT fit. I've run several different kinds. Currently have some Memphis audio's in there that are pretty deep, never had any issues. Why don't you call your local stereo shop, or do a search here and make sure crutchfields site isn't wrong. I don't like crutchfield anyways they treat you like **** unless you spend a tone of money with them!

Me either. Some applications will have depth issues, but I've never run across a set of 6x9s that wouldn't fit in these Dodge pickups.

That's not saying that there aren't some speakers that won't fit however. My suggestion would be to buy something local so you can return it if they don't fit.
