Since I put my 98 back togather this year Its hardly road worthy. When I tore the truck apart in January The front end was loose but wasnt bad. Since I got it back togather, It wonders all over the place. What do you think the problem is?
Trac bar?
Sway bar end Links?
Truck also has a welded carrier and pretty much only pulls(Trailer Queen). Just annoying when I try to drive it.

If everything else is tight especially track bar, look at the new steering box from Borgeson I just ordered one cause my truck still wanders even after all the upgrades but my truck also has almost 400,000kms on it so a box is definitly due!

I installed the Borgeson box with the steering shaft upgrade and it made the biggest difference of all the other upgrades i did to the front of my truck (98.5 4x4) I can cruise at 70mph with confidence even on a windy day!!

New parts are always good. You don't have any give in the front with it being welded, I imagine the tires will always fight each other. Lockout hubs might solve the problem though.

My problem is my control arms are moving back/forth. My holes are all egg shaped, causing a wander. I had Mitchell [Titan Machine] build me a set of control arms and he made me some spacers to weld onto my mounts to take care of the slop. I can't wait to get them installed. Just letting you know what I found.

something to check

This may be the obvious but I am new to this site so I am still learning but the first thing to do would be to take the slop out of the steering box by adjusting it. It helped on my 00 and it might buy you some time.:Cheer:

I haven't installed them yet, still waiting for my bolts to arrive. I can see shiny metal spots on both sides of the washer though. They are obviously egg shaped. I'll get pics when I install my new control arms. I can't wait! These bars look sweet!

The welded carrier is the main problem, as long as track bar and tierod ends arent sloppy. I did one test run on my puller after the rebuild in a parking lot that is dirt the turns to asphalt. I launched and ran it up to mabey 45-50, when i hit the asphalt i almost hit a building, lot was 50 yards wide. I had no control untill i got it back under 40, it was scary. My tie rods and track bar are good but my steering box is hurting from the abuse of the welded carrier and 18 psi in 35s yanking on it.
