front timing cover what is all involved with removing it? the reason i have to remove it is cause when i put my new SO pump i messed up the key and in turn it kinda messed up the key way on the pump and what about KDP? should i tap it since i am in there or what?

I believe that you have to pull a lot apart, harmonic balancer, rockers, cam, injection pump, power steering....ect ect....Not a very fun job but I have to do it also, truck is leakin oil somthing awfull

I think you guys are talking about two different items.

If you just want to remove the timing COVER, you have to pull off the harmonic balancer and a few other items up front. If you want to pull the timing CASE, then you have to pull the cam, injection pump, vacuum pump, etc.

x2 what j_rod said, pick up the dowel pin kit from TST and you get everything you need to R&R cover.

do you need the dowl pin kit for an 01. just thought that was a pre 99 truck thing.

i have heard its been hit and miss on some of these trucks so i figured better safe the sorry
