I replaced my original U-joints that had 183000 miles on them 2 sled pulls only because I was affraid of one breaking well...... one broke last night!

Anyway my question is where if any can you get stronger u-joints?? And going bigger is an option because the bolts sheared off in the yoke and one of the ears broke that keep the caps from moving side to side.

Any info appreciated Thanks Will.....

what were you using will? i always use spicer non greasable because its not hollow to allow grease to flow in it.

you can go bigger but you will have to get a weld yoke put on the DS to accept a bigger joint.

Ah thats my prob. I used a greasable kind

I should have left well enough alone and waited till the originals broke!

Thanks TJ!

I just had mine done a week ago.At 184,000 miles the u-joints were tired and the CV joint worn and sloppy.I made a few calls and had a front driveshaft done and installed two new yokes so I could use the same 1410's up front. It eliminated the front driveshaft cv joint and made for a cleaner install.

When my front DS lets go im gonna take whats left of my rear 2 pc and have a front shaft made out of it with 1410's and eliminate the CV also.

1410's on the front, non greasable. I blew two fronts out of mine, one the CV let go and the other twisted the splines on the slip joint.

When you do what TJ is talking about you can use a 1410 yoke from a 70 on the 60 and then call Haisley and get the seal and yoke for the transfercase. This will save you alot of cash, as you won't have to buy a tube, or slip joint. All that needs to be done is have the drive shaft shortened and rebalanced.

Been a bulletproof setup so far.
