Alright guys, got a quick question....Im workin on the wieght bracket, with the truck fully weighted down (1300lbs) on front. The bottom of the weights are 7 inches from ground. Do you think this is to low? My main concern is having to back on the scales, which could be a pain in the a$$ in a crowded pit area. I've never paid to much attention to the scales so im not sure how tall they are.

It depends on the scales and also how far your weights stick out but for a lot of places I think 7 inches will be too low. Go ahead and get them up some and it will save you a lot of aggravation.

The problem is that the truck as a full replacement Top Gun frt bumper. Im hanging JD weights sideways to be within the 60'' rule. The welding isnt done yet so if I have to I can raise them a couple inches, just a little more work.

It would be sooo much easier if I would of taken the bumper off, but wanted to leave it on cuz you dont see very many full blown pulling trucks with them.

Could you put some heavy duty casters on the front of the bracket so it would roll on the ground?

You wouldnt want the casters to touch the ground. He is using weights though and not a weight box so it would really work.

i would raise i have heard of places if you hit the scale with weights they will make you take them off and put them in the bed and keep them there

Id raise them too. I dont know how much room you have to work with but on a buddy of mines we took and angled the mounting braket up some to gain more clearance. At 7 inches they could also possibly be a problem when you try to load it an a trailer.

Well, I raised it as much as I could an still look good. I installed a 2in leveling kit also an with it fully weighted down, the bottom of the weights are at 9 inches. The bumper that is on the truck I wanted to keep it intacked. I brought the bracket through the original holes for the tow hooks. This way it doesnt lower the height. I already have problems getting it on my trailer. Thanks for the feed back. Full

around here we run into rules where you have to be at least 8" off the ground to your weights. otherwise we get every chevy smacking the scale with their weights. every time it gets hit we have to recalibrate the scale so we will stop a truck that is about to hit it and make him take the weight off and throw it in back or take enough off so that the front end comes up a bit and clears the scale.
