Alright guys I finished up my swb conversion but Im debating on just installing a fuel cell 20 gallon or so would probably be fine maybe 25 gal. What options are out there I know I would like an alluminum one, but most I am finding are foam filled anybody got suggestions or maybe part #s for the type they are running.

What's wrong with the foam filled ones? Would keep your fuel from sloshing around and geting more air in it.

Why so big? If you are going to be racing 5 or 10 gallons will be plenty. I bought a 10 gallon aluminum. It had the foam in it, I just pulled it out, rinsed it,, good to go. Think this way,, 10 gallons still good for 100 to 150 miles of driving.. I always take gas cans to the races anyways, this way I can keep the weight down and consistant

Well the truck is kinda a project in the making I was going to go with a 20 gal. or so because the truck is still street driven mainly but in next few months it will converted to an automatic and strictly a race truck and weekend warrior. I was told the foam doesnt mix well with diesel but thats just heresay. Really looking for a low sump style and some type of sending unit for tank level anybody got any other suggestions.

I have a 16 gal that my buddy made it uses my stock sending unit and still reads correctly. Then I used a summit fuel tank liner kit. Zero problems

my truck has a oem replacement steel tank for a older a body GM. 10 gallons. mounted behind the rear axle between the frame rails. If i could go back and go it again i would of just gotten a real fuel cell with sump outlets instead of draw straw like this one, and i would have mounted it in the bed instead of under.

Basically dont do it the way i did, or you will be re-doing it (like im gonna)

You could always get a SWB gasser tank and drain it and get a Hellman sump.

i have a plastic RCI 16g with sump.

my only recommendation, is to get an aluminum one.

if it is going to be driven on the street stay with the stock tank and get a weld in sump. fuel cells are cool but if you have a bed cover on your truck it would be annoying to have to lift the bed cover and drop the tail gate everytime you fill up. you can get the sump from Jegs part #550-40793 with 1/2 NPT threads $59.99

you must be an amazing welder... Im pretty damn good at what i do, but i defiantly cant weld a steel sump to a plastic tank.

I picked up a bed out of a single cab swb the other day just decided that the truck is eventually going to see alot of track time most likely next year and I might as well just fuel cell it and route the fuel lines once.

when i did my swb conversion i bought a summit aluminum 20gal. fuel cell with sender, i just mounted it in the bed it also looks cool

food for thought:

my poly RCI-16gal. cell has warped badly from direct sunlight (po-boy with no garage), I ended up making a sheetmetal cover... and it has continued to warp.
