Ive got a 98.5 24 cummins thats getting 11 mpg. 50 hp injectors automatic with a bigger converter im running 35s with 3.54 gears. Edge ez on high. I havent checked for codes yet. Truck seems to have power. What are some things i can check? With diesel 4.15 a gallon its time i address this!

I say correcting the speedometers does wonders with 35s. Rpm is still low and truck is lugging a lil.

I have seen a pretty decent drop in mileage when the lift pump/vp44 are on their way out.

Only if you are towing maybe. My '93 has 35" and a 5spd, and it gets 20mpg. My '99 with a tired VP and 5spd/4.10 gears still gets 16mpg with the Edge on 5x5.

A tired lift pump, VP44 or injectors most likely.

Are you calculating with true corrected miles and gallons used since last fillup? With bigger tires the speedo and odometer will say less miles that you've really traveled and you'll get a lower mpg. Not 11mpg low, but still lower.

I don't mean to insult you with this question, just easy to overlook.

How much does it usuallly cost. I never reallly thought about the true milage thing. Im hopin speedo is off and not vp

Well a ve truck ain't nothing like a vp truck. 5 spd with 4.10s don't Compare to 4 spd auto with 3.55 and 35s. I've got a vp truck with 4.10s and 6spd that get better Milage hand down than my other vp truck with 5 spd with 3.55 s and 35s with a new vp. Truck needs rpm. The lower aint always the best.

My mileage average.......

Just did 3900 miles in the last 2.5 weeks. Green Bay, Wi. to Bradenton, Bradenton to Clearwater, Clearwater to Daytona, Daytona to Green Bay. Plus all the other driving. Have a fuel cell so fill ups are easy and accurate. I have no fuel gauge so I fill up at 250 mile intervals. Every 250 miles I would fill between 12-13 gallons. Once was only 10.2 gallons but that made no sense(this fuel was CLEAR when I pumped it and I thought that was strange). ALSO, my speedo reads 65mph when I am going 71 mph.
So, without correcting for speed/distance I am averaging 20-21 mpg with a Blue chip-X VP, Mach 6 sticks, Silver Bullet 64 hybrid, 4:10 gears and 305/45/22 tires and a HTS 47RH trans with a Suncoast controller and a Helix 2 cam with a ported head. I am not easy on the truck and was screwing around quite a bit. Rear tires only last about 10k miles if that. I'm gonna correct the speedo after my gear swap and see what happens then. What say you?????
