I'm sure there is plenty of fuel mileage threads on here, but I never seem to find them. My truck is getting the worst mileage I've ever seen it get. I got these injectors, basically an rv275. I have the superchips, intake, and 4in exhaust. I'm fighting, driving like a puss, never hitting the skinny pedal hardly ever, and am getting 16mpg tops. I'm going to try to mess with the tuner and see if that will help.
Another thing is it idles pretty rough, almost sounds like it's missing. Now I'm a diesel mechanic, but I am new to these smaller engines. I've heard trucks run like mine and they seem to be ok. The roughness cleans up right away when I give it any fuel at all. Also has real good power, so it doesn't seem to be missing under power. Any ideas? I just always here guys talking about 22mpg+ with all kinds of mods, I think they're doing a little fibbing myself, but I know 18-20 is pretty realistic.

last week I got 569.2 miles and filled it up and it took 24.8 gallons and that is without using my edge comp. Mine runs very smooth at idle though.

Check your valve lash, Make sure your tires are aired up properly,

Do you have any gauges? Is your lift pump working and putting out good psi?

Is your speedo corrected for bigger tires?

All these things can affect your mileage.

valve lash is good, probably could check the tires, kick good though. Brand new lift pump, working on gauges... speedo is corrected. I thought that maybe I was getting bad fuel, but I've tried a lot of places, same thing.

If the idle is bad rough that sounds like poor injector performance, maybe swap them out for the stockers long enough to get them checked out?

What size tire and what gears?

Check your intercooler boots.....make sure the ones at the intercooler haven't "balloned" up and are soft and spungy. I pulled out of somewhere the other night and just decided to kick the throttle a little....."hmm...that ain't right on the boost".....a little MORE throttle.....hmm time for new boots.:bang

A bad or leaking intercooler boot can rob 2-3 mpg....I've been through 2 passenger side boots @ the intercooler and just never ponied up the cash for a good set.....this time I wasn't going to a 3rd stocker.*bdh*

I get 18 mpg on average around town, but I do get over 22 on the highway. I could probably do better than that if I could keep my foot from hittin the floor so much.

i like running some 2 stroke outboard oil with howes fuel treatment.

but the best thing ive learned is to drive by the pyro under 600* 20+mpg, 800*+ 17-18 this is strictly hwy mileage.

in town i average 13-17.

constant speed is important too.

Yeah, the intercooler boots are good, i think it's just this ultra low sulfur crap. I ran out of additive and that's when it went down, I just got some more, and am still messing with the tuner. I'll figure it out.

I think that the 4.10 gears are the number one reason and an injector or two that are off in pop pressure is the likely cause of the rest and of the rough idle.
