Stupid question (or stupid person) but those of you who are over 500hp with a VP how much fuel pressure do yall run? I'm running 15 at idle and 12.5-13 at WOT. Someone mentioned to me that I should up the pressure to 18-20. I blew it off at first but now its got me thinking. I don't think its neccessary but its my last resort.

i was making 560-570 with 13 at idle and 9 at WOT...bumped it to 24, and it wouldnt pull below 20 and it made ZERO difference in power

Shouldn't you ask about fuel pressure for 400HP?

Pretty much what I figured but thought I would ask. Everyone I know over 500 is around 18-20 so I started wondering if maybe that was my issue. Hell I've swapped everything else on this truck LOL.

Ya but the arguement then becomes if you drop below 14 you are starving the pump of fuel because its not returning anything to the tank to cool itself.

Who wants to know?:hehe: On a serious note, my truck feels stronger above redline with 24psi than it does at 15. Maybe I'm crazy though who knows?:bang

looking at my ET in the 1/4 mile i should be over 500hp and my fuel pressure is around 13psi WOT

and a lot of ppl i talk to about fuel pressure like to run in the 20's at WOT with a VP

I have often wonder this too!

mine is roughly

17psi at the fass at idle, 15 at WOT

15psi at the IP, 13psi at WOT

Chip told me that 20psi was best because you are moving more fuel & keeping it cooler for the vp electronics. I bumped mine up to 24psi & it seems to pull harder up top.

I cant even stay above 5 psi at wot at all anymore. Ive tried different pumps, psi for 20 to 38 at idle, still pull it down to 5 or below. Now i have a belt driven pump, idle at 10 goes up to 25 by 1800 rpm and by 2100 its back at 5 psi. Im ready to quit here, i still make enough power to break crap but it wont run good.

i could be off what about your tank? is it collapsed? sump running at its peak potential? what size lines are you running?

12 gall bottom feed race cell. 8an feed so 1/2 inch lines all around theres no filter or anything, just tank to pump, pump to vp, and a return. I could check the over flow valve i guess.

Back when it was street driven at 500ish i never had a problem idling at 17 pull dow to 13 when filter was bad. Now i cant get anything. Even when my guage says 5 psi its still pournin black smoke, but not full power, you can feel a quick burst of full power for 2-3 seconds and then it fall off quick.
