I had a shop install guages, including a autometer cobalt 30psi fuel pressure guage. They tapped the sender into the top of the fuel filter housing and it just doesn't work right. Its all over and sometime sits at zero. AFTER I bought the guage, summit told me that the guage wont work on a dodge diesel but didn't say why. So whats the deal, can I make it work? Or did they install it wrong?

Electric or manual gauge? If it's electric the pulsing of the fuel system can kill them right quick. It also might not be compatible with diesel fuel? Don't know, just asking.

I'd say check the wires to the sending unit and See where they are getting the power from with the other wire. If its from the underhood fuse box the lid may have cut the wire if they diddn't install it clean and trace the wire down the battery cable.

X2 on the wiring check, but if they hooked the gauge straight to the side of the VP you have a potential problem. Seems the VP likes to make pulses in the fuel supply, this tends to be very bad on electric sending units. Go by the local parts house and buy a section of grease gun hose with the ends on it, they should be the same thread as the sending unit (1/8 NPT) and will give you some "cushion" between the VP and sending unit. It's real popular to mount the sending unit to the dipstick tube once it's on the hose.

I have been haveing problems with the autometer guages i have been using also. They dont seem to last very long. I have sent 3 back already. Not sure what is going

AHH yes I already sent back an autometer pyro..., about to send back there trans temps, both off my brothers luckily!!

Any more thoughts on this guage? Has anyone else gotten the cobalt guage to work on their cummins?
