i have been having issues with my fuel draw at certain levels. it started at 1/4. and has now moved to almost a half. pretty sure its a draw straw problem. have been looking at putting on a sump kit. I was wondering if anyone has used XDP Black Anodized Diesel Fuel Tank Sump Kit. i know hellman makes one as well. just wanting some ideas on which one may be better opposed to the other or if its worth the time.

i just looked at it. i do like the fact of having a drain plug. did you install one on yer truck? my only thing with not dropping the tank is all the shavings. was that a problem with you and your solution?

Yup, I've got one on my truck, Bean's got one on his truck, and we've installed probably close to 100 in the last year or so here in the shop.
Never had one issue with shavings. We put them right underneath of the stock fuel pickup, and you can push that up in to the tank enough to get a rag in there to clean out all of the shavings (although there usually isn't very much inside the tank itself).

I plan on running a bdp sump here soon. Mainly for the ease of install.
much agreed on the ease. i was just dreading having to take the bed off or dropping the tank to install one.

lol. We have people drive down from Maryland, California, Alaska etc. Wouldn't be too bad of a drive for you :evil

Just give us a call and we'll get you a price for labor etc.

We're about 45 minutes southeast of Nashville.

I normally work alone in my driveway, or I could use my bosses shop for a day. I don't have really any specialty tools. So dropping the tank would just add to the list of removal and install. Which would be adding time, that I don't have much of. Hahaha

I've got an XDP sump going in this weekend. I'll report back with some results after a few days of running. As far as being able to drain the tank... If you have the sump and an Airdog, FASS or any kind of electric pump, you can always disconnect the supply side hose and pump it into a fuel can.
