The Fuelab pump installed July 2008 finally gave up. This was one of the first diesel pumps put out by Fuelab. It ran most of its life regulated at 70psi and was turned down when I went to the 12v. I contacted them yesterday and received a new pump today. I needed something quick so by my choice I bought a replacement. There have been many changes made to the newer pumps. They can't wait to get their hands on this one to see what happened. This one will be updated and repaired. I may keep it for a spare or I may decide to sell it.

I need to give a big thanks to David Lott at DI Performance. While Fuelab would have sold it to me direct they preferred that I went through one of their dealers. David called them immediately and had the new pump drop shipped to me.

The attachment below shows the flow and current draw. This pump will primarily run at reduced speed to increase pump life. I will need to install a switch to run it full speed when sled pulling. At full speed it will flow 200+ gph at 40psi.

very nice! i was looking at the fuel lab pumps a while back when i was building my 6.0 fuel system, ended up with an airdog. ive been thinking about getting one now for the 12v but i just havent been able to bring myself to buy one.

how does this reduced power work?

It's a simple switch of the wiring. Even at reduced speed it still carries 45psi. If the weather ever breaks I'll get it out where I can open it up and see how it holds. It only takes switched power to one terminal to make it full speed.

Dang! That's almost 2 years about what a Aeromotive A1000 last, for me at least.I hope the new one last alot longer for you Kevin.

Yeh 2 1/2 years. That's about what the A1000 lasted. I think the next one will be better. This one was new out and there have been many revisions.

not even 2yrs yet. july would have been 2yrs. though running at higher pressure for a powerstroke will wear it down much faster.

Chances are, there's nothing worn out about the pump. It's entirely possible that it's just a problem with the control board, or the external pump speed control wiring connections.

If the brushless pumps fail like this it's a fluke deal. When a brushed pump lasts that long it's worn the F out.

Big ass difference.

:hehe:

Ive been lookin at the fuel lab pumps and was wonderin how loud they were
?

It has a hum to it. I'd say it's no different that a Aeromitive or SX. LOL My 12v is pretty noisy so what's a little more.

DI Performance is working with **** to make a modular pump system with the ability to seperate the air and water using the Fuelab pump. This should be a big plus for the guys not wanting to hang a big pump unit all in one or simply not having the room. This should be a good system for the drag guys.
