anyone know where to find cummins head bolt torque instructions that jeff garmon uses? im tired of searching. lol

New bolts, apply some grease to the threads.
Torque to 50, 75, 100 ft/lbs
Let cool for 30 minutes.
Go up 5ft/lbs at a time every 30's minutes until you reach 150/155ft lbs.
Take care to note if the bolts start stretching around 145/150ft lbs. The last time I torqued a set they started stretching at 150 so I stopped there.

Use either ARP lube or a good moly grease on the threads and on the underside of the bolt head.

if theys stretchin at 150 or so i would do exactly like said except stop at 135...

He asked for the "Garmon Method"....that method is to take the bolts to 155ft/lbs....only giving him the info he wanted and my personal experience. :Cheer:

Haha, you got raped on those wrenches! I wouldn't bother getting ahold of a digital wrench just to do head bolts ONE time $.02

I use a click wrench, luckily i have the equipment to calibrate/validate it whenever i want.

i didnt have a torque wrench so i went tell i felt the threads pull and backed them off a 1/4 turn. that should be fine right? jk... but really thanks for the input guys. i got up to 125lbs and was running out of time. so i will take them up to 150 later this week.

are you driving the truck? garmon told me to do them one time and leave them alone..... let them have as much time in between torques as possible....lube, lube, lube..... it gets scary above 135....so go slow after that

Product

100 bucks^

I use a 20 dollar harbor freight non digital.

f that is right

harbor freight "pittsburgh brand" rachet box ends have worked on 3 motor drops

the torque wrench i bought worked once

bought a snap on tq wrench - never looked back - not digital, but have the small adjust knob on the side
