Gaskets or Silicone

What did you use when you did the swap. I am going to change the seal should I worry about the gaskets or just use silicone.

Timing cover, case to block, and tappet cover.

Case to block use a gasket. Tappet cover takes a rubber seal. No option for silicon either place IMO.

The timing cover is the only place a would ever use the sealant. But even then, it gets all over the bolts and is kinda a mess if you have to take it off often(haha).

I used black rtv on the cover and housing on my truck and another truck with no problems. Side cover has to have a gasket.

I also sillyconed my timing case and cover. I think its easyer to clean silicone off than the original gasket, the timing case gasket was a pita to clean.
