Gate opener/Garage door opener

Hello yall

Figured some of you guys may have powered gate openers on stuff around your places. I need a gate opener for my gate which is a light sixteen foot tube gate. I do not care for the mighty mule ones because they have always been very slow in my mind. I priced around for actual gate openers and they are pretty pricey from my local suppliers. Any of yall come up with a way to use an old garage door opener or some other robust yet cheap method of hands free remote controled gate opening?

Be sure you ground the fence, I bought the biggest one I could find and got about two weeks until lightning hit the fence. It's still sitting there melted from about 5 years ago.

You might be able to use a liftmaster door opener (like a 8500). It's the kind that normally mounts on the wall and turns the shaft on a garage door. Very quiet, draw less than 1 A, and due to gearing don't have any problems opening a large door.
