Ok who is running 4.10s with a 5 spd and what rpm are you turning at 70! I want gears bad but i dont think 3.73s are gonna be enough. I have welding machine and tools in my truck 24-7 and still pull trailers. It just seems like truck woudnt be working so hard if i had a lil more gear plus i drive 60-70 with most of my driving and this turbo is a lil warm between 45-65 and its right between 4th and 5th. Just aggrevating! This is work truck for me so going to set land speed records is out of the picture i just want to pop a wheelie at 45 with 12k trailer:hehe::hehe:
 
my towin ton has 4.10s and 5 speed right now at 70 i am turning 2400rpms i believe? but i am gonna swap gears to 3.55 cause it sounds lik a b-2 bomber flyin low
 
Well thats def screamin but with tires on truck with 3.55s im at 1800 at 70 turbo dont cool till 1900 or so!
 
73's would be perfect in my opinion, i wouldnt run 4.10's unless i had tires bigger than 35's
 
you can use one of theose gear calculators online to put in all your tire size and gear ratio info, and you will be able to see how many rpm you gain with different gears
 
Well i wouldnt be against it if i had another gear!
 
I'd kill for 3.73's for my truck. 3.55's and 35's aren't fun and 4.10's are way to much.
 
Well 373s would be alot better but just got a new welding bed for my truck and with tools and machine im loaded down. Im right at 10,800 with truck bed abd tools. New bed is way heavier so ill be 11k+ easy and my 5er weighs 11k so you get my point! If I go with 4.10s with 35s i think its gonna put me around 2300 or so at 70. As it sits now i when i pull my 5er i cant run 5th truck just falls on its face and gets hot!
 
I don't have a 5 speed but an auto. I have 4.10's and 35's and I still hate it. At 65mph I am turning about 1900rpms. I don't think our gear ratio's are that far off either in OD lockup vs. 5th gear.
The engine makes so much power at lower RPM's I would love to be at 1500rpm at 68mph or so.
A buddy of mine has 4.10's and a 5 speed with a welding rig, he cruises at about 65mph. Also wishes he had 3.73's.
 
Im running 305s now and on a good day i get 14. I cant get over that to save my life. I cant sany im gonna be pissed about milage cause it aint to great now! With stick tires i was 2k at 70 but lower rpm i dont make much power i need to be 2k+ to be cool and clean! I found a gear calculater and it told me at 70 with 4.10s 305s 2350. With 35s 4.10 2250! Now if i had 3.73s 305 i would be at 2150! Im running firestone mt
