Hey Guys, I have 1992 Gen1 that has been recently retrofitted/rebuilt by previous owner. Its stock A518 auto was rebuilt by Brooks Transmission in Tremont, IL probably less than 10k miles ago.
Full rebuild, triple disc torque converter, new valve body, bands, etc. It has the thicker adapter plate for the 1st gen to accept the larger locking torque converter, 2nd gen starter and shorter drive shaft to accommodate the setup. They built it with the goal of holding 450hp while towing heavy loads. It is all hooked up to B&M ratcheting shifter for positive manual shifts although it still has automatic valve body so you can do manual ratcheting up shifts or just put in D and go. Torque converter locks up and O/D shifting is controlled via toggle switch but you can rig these up via other methods that feed off up RPM/Hydraulic pressure if you prefer for your application.
If you have a Gen1 Auto this is the only way to go to my opinion this transmission is better by a long shot than anything ever sold to date for automatic Cummins from Chrysler and it bolts right up to a Gen1.
I am selling full kit, everything you needed to bolt up to Gen1, I would only ask for your driveshaft in return. The transmission is still in truck and I do occasional drive it, and I am looking for a committed buyer before I pull transmission.
Why I am selling? The truck has a leaky rear main seal that I am going change myself and since I need to pull the transmission anyway…...when I bought the truck I really wanted a stick but the fully built Gen1 Auto was too good of a deal to pass up. So if I can sell the auto, I will just pull it all out fix the seal and put a manual in instead. This truck is mostly for play so it would be ok with it out commission for a while if someone wants the Auto ASAP.
Looking for $3500 for the kit, will include everything auto related including trans cooler/lines. If someone wants this for a Gen2 and doesn't want the shaft/adapter plates etc., let me know I we can adjust price.
