Now that I have the bigger injectors and turbo, I really notice the TQ management holding me back if I try and power brake it to spool the turbo... At the drag track I spool it up to about 10lbs and it still feels like a dog till the turbo lights, it hits 2nd gear, then it takes off... I've tried boosting higher, but doen't work any better.

I know the BD Rad will eliminate it. Smary will too. What other options are there? Which is the best bang for my buck? BD Rad looks like its about $250....

FMS Redline will but they are alot of money. Your best bet is the Rad Box. Let me know if you need a price. We have them in stock.

Be very, and I mean very carefull with tq management. That is the quickest way to kill your tranny, trust me I know first hand

i would git the smarty if I was you. cause i heard that when you se the bd rad that your speedo, tach and all other gauges dont work.

Very true, buuuuuutt...... if you are only going to use it for the track it's the best way to go $$ wise. He'll need the spare change for tranny repairs :D LOL

Exactly. Lower price for the BD but the tach/speedo won't work. Ofcourse with the Smarty you also get the added power and a code reader as well so I guess it just depends what you are wanting and your budget.

if you want to try the smarty I will send you a demo with a cc number to cover my ass.

no obligation to buy

Thanks

That's the best way to sale them (i borrowed a buddies Smarty
while his truck was gettin body work done and i had to buy my own when he wanted his back, because the truck felt totally gutless when i gave it back, i could not stand to drive my truck without the Smarty) My wife don't won't me to borrow anything else. LoL

Get both. Bd Rad for better 60's at the track and the smarty to fine tune your fueling with the Drag Comp.

I am currently running the Rad, Smarty, and Redline box on my 02. It's hard to beat the new Smarty software, when it comes to driveability and adjustability. I use the adjustability to set it up so that the turbos spool at the line, and the initial launch. After that the Redline box takes over.

I had been using the drag comp instead of the Smarty for the low end, but the Smarty is much more adjustable. The truck seems to run smoother also, especially right at the 3100rpm mark.

Got a demo smarty from Bob on the way...

My trans was built by Goerand... With everything Dave recommended except billet output... He said if I do break that I won't have to drop the tranny to replace it... I'm not going to get too crazy but boostin it to 10-12psi for a launch and have it actually GO would be nice... Breaks the tires loose nice when it hit's 2nd gear in 2wd though! lol

I only had my tq managment down to 75 % of that 80% (level 3) and kept melting forward clutches. I put it back to stock, no more tranny problems, and ran a 10.84

Kevin,

Remeber the OP has a 2nd gen which a totally different animal, he can get rid of TQ management because we will never be able to make the power your truck is making.

LOL, I suppose thats true, I just want to help out and not cost him a bit of money for clutches,,

I recently purchased the Smarty for that reason, the tq management. It made a big improvement on my take off then my edge comp takes care of the rest, and I love the little extra power from it also.
