ok this weekend gettin my old 99 truck that was wrecked buying it back from the guy who bought it from insurance....

ok so heres the crossroad im at.... i've been lookin for an engine to mod to eventually put in a puller sooooo do i stick with the 24v and p pump it or sell it and get a p pumped 12v

how much more flow is there in a 24v vs a 12v.... this is also a budget build so from experiance what would be the cheaper of the two to mod?

the engine has 202,000 or so miles on it... dunno for sure if its a 53 block but would think it would have cracked by now if it was goin to...

so the bigest factors for me are BUDGET, and My lack of experiance being able to mod it (i do have help from a diesel mechanic but this is goin to be a learning experiance for me)

I would see if its the 53 block first. If it is I would just go 12v. You can sell the 24v and get a 12v with a pump on it. If you stick with the 24v you will have to buy a pump. What kinda HP, RPM,2.6,2.8, ect. are you looking for?

im buildin a p-pump 24 valve for my 1st gen puller, i think im decided om the 2.8 class

like to go for a 2.8 truck...

guess the main ? here is how much more air flow would i be able to get outta a 24v head vs a 12v

Budget build go 12v, cheaper in the long run...but if its not a 53 block id build that motor.

some 53 blocks are great. mine with 250k on it held twins and 700hp all day long and never cracked. it came out of the truck because the inj. pump went out. (good old monster VP :) )

honestly id keep the 24v head and slap it on the 12v block if the 24v turns out to be a 53 though. better to be safe than sorry.
