Got a newer VP on my truck to replace the dying one. Also off a 99'. Truck is way smoother and healthier. However, when I turn on the ADR it cuts in and out and throws P0253 which is Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control A Low. Acording to my buddy scanner, but others call it something slightly different. I searched on here for it and I guess it means the IAT sensor or something like that in the pump is going out. SOOO what does that mean? It only throws this when you turn on the ADR. Power cuts in and out (although not like before, it acts like the chip is turning on and off, not surging) My connections are good, I sodered a wire to the pump wire, then put a connectot on it and plugged it into the plug on the ADR wire(the flat connector) Does that matter that I added a piece of wire? Thanks

If it only acts up with the ADR turned on, I think you have found the problem. Contact Quad and see what they have to say, this might be an issue that has come up before and they will know of a fix for it.

Yup the pump seems fine its just like the ADR is cutting out. Maybe I'll try a different tune before I call quad. Anyone else had this P0253?

Don't be alarmed. It's just holding the valve open a little to long and the pump/computer doesn't know what's going on.

not to alarm you or anything my truck did the same thing. then one night we took the truck a thrill ride somthing let the truck go to 4k rpm then the pump just stopped working put a new pump on and away she went. seem to me this sorta thing happens with chip on a weak pump. but do your best to make sure its the pump and nothing else so your not buying a new pump for nothing. hope this helps..

Ok I have found that it only does this around 2000rpm. Will do it in any gear, even first. The rpms jump up and down as does boost and fp, holding the same throttle. But higher or lower rpm and its fine, and it only does it with the ADR on.
