Was looking through the instructions on my new 3600dd south bend clutch tonight and it says i have to grind the webbing inside the bellhousing in two spots but the picture doesnt look anything like my NV5600 transmission. Not sure what to do. Any one heard of this before?

I know that Peter had a few SBC 3600 DD that would rub the bell housing with the pressure plate and if you grinded down the plate in a few spots it would fit better. I would give Peter a call and make sure this is something you need to do and see what he has to say. Also I know that was for a 3600 DD/NV4500 setup.

i just ordered a 3600 DD still waiting for it my truck has been sitting in my driveway for 3 days with no tranny in it, now after reading this im really not looking forward to putting it back in

Uh oh.

I just installed a 3600 dd in my pickup, and I didn't see anywhere that I had to grind anything.

I did have to remove the washer behind the pivot ball on the shift fork though. That was it.

No noises, no problems.. Interesting.

01, nv5600 6-speed 4x4 pickup.

I think there were only a select few that had the problem to be grinded down and everything. So if you did not grind anything and just removed the washer you should be fine. Like I said I don't think all of them needed to be grinded on.

I had no issues with the 3600DD I put in 2 months ago. Are you sure you are looking at the instructions for the 5600 (6spd) and not the ones for the 4500 (5spd)??

I know you have to grind on the bellhousing when installing a triple disk in a g56 but I've never heard of having to grind the bellhousing for a DD.

Didn't have to grind anything for either my 3250 diaphragm or my 3600 lever style clutches.

Yes.....had to do it for a G56. Pretty sure thats what yours is going in is the G56....correct? Did one on an 07!!
