Two of my trucks 94 5 speed, 96 auto trans have been having issues with a weird grinding noise and they continue to run with the key off. It may last 5-10 seconds or 1 minute or more. Sounds much worse at 32 below freezing that at 32 above freezing. The last truck did it for so long i had to unplug the fuel shut of relay to kill the truck. And they always fire right up afterwards with no issue for a week or longer. any ideas

I don't know about the grinding noise.

But if you take the key out and it keeps running, and unplugging the shut off solenoid fixes it, then it is probably the shut off solenoid.

Brand new solenoid and relay, some one overheard the noise and said maybe the starter was sticking,... at first i thought the turbo was grinding it self to death, but its kinda consistant.

Larry B's has the thick hd contacts and plunger assembly to rebuild the starter.

thank goodness, my stock truck started doing this after i tapped it for a pyro and my other truck started doing it after i removed the fuel plate( which is not the best idea, to coally)
