I have the opportunity to buy a used gt-55 off a wrecked semi locally . No in or out shaft play and normal side to side play. oil seal condition unknown. would you guys buy it for the asking price of $300.00? would this turbo be worth it in a twin set-up with a silver bullet on top or is it a waste of money? Rob

There are a few different gt55. The gt5533 is journal bearing with 91mm compressor wheel, and 111mm exhaust wheel. There is also a gt5541r that is a 105mm compressor and a 111mm exhaust. There are two others of similar dimensions. They are a pretty spendy turbo but is also huge. I would buy it even if it was to re sell it later, but thats just the inner gypsy in me talking.
As far as running it as twins I would say it would be a little large but i'm sure there is someone on here that knows a little more about it than me.

thsi is the gt5533 model with the 91.3 wheel and it is not large it is unique:hehe:

I'd get it... FWIW I believe MPI has a few of those (gt55, not sure what configuration) sitting around for 1k hp trucks. He can make it fit in twins although it is very tight. It will support high HP but will be laggy.

Call and talk to Joe at hellmann performance, I let him borrow my GT55 and he used it on his twin kit in his race truck.
