Guage issue..

Got my 2001 running this past weekend, and after start up the tachometer drops to 0, and the speedo doesnt work.. All other guages work fine. Anyone had this problem before? Im wondering if the ECM is the problem. When i had it apart to build it, my buddy took the ECM for his truck and i bought another one for the same year/trans. The tach works for ~2seconds after start up then stops.

Does it lose power too or just tach?

Only tach and speedo, every thing else is normal.

does the truck run rough on initial startup?

No it runs great

Could be your dash cluster. Ive heard of them just going bad

If it was the cluster wouldnt it just not work at all tho?

Not necessarily, Individual parts of it could fail

Possibly a speed sensor? There aren't any codes? Check with a scanner if you haven't.

I plan on swappin cam sensors bc i found another one in the shop. Hopefully that fixes it if not then may swap ecm with my buddies.
