I done a few searches and didn't really find anything that has helped. My friend has a 99 24v that does not like to start. When you turn the key on you have to let it sit for about 20 to 30 seconds and then the wait to start light will come on and the lift pump will buz, after that it will usually start. If you turn the key on and try to start it right away, doesn't matter if the truck is cold or hot, it will not start it just spins over. it has a new lift pump just to rule it out. Other than that the truck is stock. Has anyone had this happen or heard of it happening? Thanks.

VP44 may be taking a poop. Get a code reader on it.

I'd put money on it.. The ECM is going bad. Had the EXACT same issue with our 99. As long as you waited for the WTS light it would start right up, but if the light didn't come on and then shut off, the truck wouldn't start.

You can try to "reboot" the computers by disconnecting both batteries for 20 minutes then re-connect....jes' something to try.

Might try to unplug the fuel relay under the hood and see if it will start right up. My 99 was doing the same thing and talked to chip fisher he said the vp44 was getting to much pressure. I unplugged the relay then it fired right up. As soon as it starts shut it right off because you won't have any fuel pressure. I went to radio shack and bought a momentary switch in put in the dash. I hve to push the switch to start my truck or it will not start.

I'll give it a try this weekend and see what happens. i'm leaning towards the computer or the pump. Once it starts it runs great.

well i swaped out the ecm and still the same. I will give the relay a try and see what happens.

removed the fuel pump relay and it still wouldn't start. Next on hit list is the VP44 and chasing the wiring to mabey find a short.

Anyone know what would cause the long delay in the wait to start kight to come on? as soon as the light comes on it will fire right up.
