What are the pro's/con's of different thickness head gaskets? Its a friend of mines truck which is a daily driver. Its a 98 12V auto with O-Ringed head, HTT 71/74/14, DDP 4's, and 5K GSK. He is putting a new head on and was wondering what gasket thickness would be best. I run a .020" over but i have never actually seen the pros of running an oversized gasket vs. a stock thickness gasket

Pro of a thicker gasket is lower cylinder pressure, the con is it lowers your torque. IMO use firerings and a stock thickness gasket, then you don't lose compression/torque but have great holding ability.

He was running a fire ring setup before (grooves cut in head) and had bad luck it blew twice. So he got a new head and had it O-Ringed but would like some advice on what gasket to run?

On a daily driver, it seems a stock one, or the .010 over gasket is the best from what i have heard.
