I am about to replace my head gasket and just had one very important question..

What is the best way to torque down the head? What is your technigue?

go up in intervals? heat cycles? hot or cold? etc.

My head is fire ringed and trucks got 14mm head studs by the way.

Thanks for any help in advance!

There's alot of threads about this, if you find any that are closed let me know and I'll reopen them if you'd like to ask a question.

Start in middle and work your way out on each side - back and forth

50 - 75- 100 - 110 -120- 130 - 135,140,145,150

start and warm to opp. temp for 15 - 20 mins.....

Let cool completely..

retorque from middle out again and see where they start to move ft. lb. wise.

take them back up in 5 lb increments.

drive a short distance ( 25-100 miles ) at low boost....

I like to do a one last warm torque, just to make sure they stayed at the max... OR you can do yet another completey cold tq....

drive for 100-500 miles using moderate boost...

Do another retorque if your anal....
