Ive been looking at replacing my cylinder head (long story) and Im thinking if its off anyhow why not look at a ported head. Twins soon to follow.
I see stage two porting with the plenum hacked off seems to not have a huge gain over stock =(
Zach Hamilton has a 12v casting thats got some impressive numbers and the ability to be ported even higher. Im assuming this would be done by hand since its not common enough to warrant a shop making a CNC program to do it. (?)
I -think- his cylinder head is ~2800$. Not sure on that number since I havent called yet. A good stage 2 port with the plenum off seems to be around 1500$.
Might be worth looking into.

Anyone here have experience with an aftermarket head, versus a stage 2 port on a stock casting?

Find a good used head and send it to Joe @ Pure Diesel Power. He has my head for my 2.6 motor build currently. You will get all the gains you want, and will spend much less than buying a hamiliton head and having it P&P/side draft intake.

Not knocking Zach's head...just saying there is a more cost efficent way.

It looks like theres only so much you can do with the stock head, thats why I was considering Zack's.
