i was wondering if anyone here has had sucess studding their head one at a time. i would like to eventually pull the head and have it p&p and o-ringed but for now i was thinking about just doing one at a time. im going to be running a 62/65/12 ill keep it wastegated around 45ish. thanks

what about the rocker pedestals im going to have to pull all of them off to have them machined will it be ok with them out all at once?

i did it... it didnt seem to hurt anything. i thought i had a HG leaking (turned out to be something else) but anyway the machine shop said it didnt look like there was any cylinder pressure getting by.

i started doing my torque at 90 and went up by 15 up to 135 and it seemed to work as well as i could ask. i run about 43-44psi of boost with 22* of timing plus dynamic. i also think that the 1st gen head gaskets arent that great.

Same approach here. No issues with rocker pedestals removed simultaneously, head gasket didnt leak, 18 degrees of timing. I did have the coolant drained at the time though!

Those of you who have done this, did you still use a bottoming tap?

im probably just goin to go ahead and pull the head off and replace the gasket. id really hate to have it blow a headgasket when i dyno next weekend. you guys have any estimate what ill run. mods in sig. i know wayyy to much fuel but im planing on twins and didnt want to buy injectors twice.

yes on my A-1 studs I bottom tapped, arp studs I didnt just threaded them in with lube but of course the pedestals were machined. The second time with arp's I bottom tapped anyway. Never had a problem either way. Remember if you use grease to catch the shavings on the taps flutes I had to run the tap through all holes multiple times for the studs to thread into the block sufficiently!
