Hey guys i got my tax return so I wanna get some head studs for my new motor... I was dead set on the ARP 625's and at $1200 its an investment.. I was poking around the Haisley site ordering some fire ring kits... and saw they had some on there also 14mm for $751 for a CR... what do you think..?

well i think the A-1 H11 14mm studs are just as good as the ARP 625, plus you save a little money, after seeing how many regular ARP studs are breaking makes me question ARP's quality.

14mm studs require drilling and tapping the block..... If done wrong you'll have nothing but problems. If you are already drilling and tapping you could also look into 9/16" studs

Unless you have the block in the machine shop already 12mm studs work fine

Tell me about the 9/16th studs... And as far as taping... I worked at a machine shop for a year did alot of head work I'm capable of doing them myself correctly...

But can you correctly drill them with the block still in the truck? If you can get setup in there it shouldn't be to hard for you then, just make sure its straight and don't go to far and get into any water jackets.

I would just go with 12mm H-11 studs unless you are going crazy with it.

i should be able to set up right... I have alot of weird tools...! I'm sure I could conjure something up!!!! or just pull the motor... I have had 3 of them.. only take me a few hours now! lol

625's

Im a nobody but from the somebody's I've spoken with, 14mm studs are a Bad Idea!! Like said above, if not done correctly they can be huge problems!

I'm pretty positive that Greg H. would sell you a set a good bit cheaper than $1200.

625's are 12mm. The issue you get with some of the newer blocks is they don't have the material around the stud hole to work well with the 14mm. The 14mm work well in the older blocks.

^x2 625 and H-11 are the material type. They are available in both 12mm and 14mm diameters

oh ok... yeah I must have read and add that was for the 14mm ones and I thought that was the only size they came in.. thanks guys.. you are alot of help, Michael.
