so planning on changing up the interior to make the '97 a lil' more - long drive comfortable...doesn't help since I have a 6" single stack.

first does anyone know where to get OEM replacement headliners (mines falling apart)...I have found ABS plastic ones...but I would prefer them to be covered with the same cloth as stock...if these aren't available, I guess I'll survive.

second...I will be looking to add sound deadening material to the interior - floor, ceiling, sides, doors...then throwing new carpet on the floor, since right now I have just Herculiner. Anyone know where to get good quality sound deadening material?

Any advice or links would be great!!!

I really cant add any good info, but could you post a link (if available) to the ABS headliners? I'm nearing the headliner-replacement deadline myself

[100+ straight pins holding her together :D]

Yes, you can order any sqft amount you want. It worked really well. Sticks very good, even to the ceiling. The only thing you can really hear in my truck now is the exhaust because of the stack and the turbo. There is no road noise anymore.

Looks like that stuff is Dynamat Xtreme without Dynamat Xtreme printed on it!! I'll certainly be going that route next time!!!

I know this thread is really really old, but for anyone that looks at it and wants soundproofing, try a product called Peel 'n Seal. I've got 2 layers of this stuff covering my entire interior and it's just as effective as the Dynamat Extreme and Second Skin that grandpa has used in his trucks. I know it's meant for roofing, but it's good stuff!!!

:umno: Peel n' seal sucks!

I went and bought some and installed it on my back wall of my ext. cab to help with the stack noise. Didn't notice that much difference.

Maybe I'll be able to afford some real stuff to go on the floor and doors soon!

To each their own. Like I said, I put two layers over everything in my truck and it works wonderfully. Identical trucks, and the dB reading inside my truck is 64 and a friend's it's 87. That's good enough for me, and you sure can't beat the price. Until the Dynamat and Second Skin is more affordable I'll stick with Peel N' Seal.

Raam is very affordable when compared to Dynamat, etc.

I go 6-8 layers thick in a lot of areas... in my 97, I had a bunch of lead sheet because I got the stuff free. THAT thing was QUIET!!

i always liked the idea of a American flag style headliner, I think that would be cool.
