ok, i thought i had this figured out only to get the passenger side floorboard soaked again! this is the third heater core i have stuck in the truck, and of course its getting cold now and id like to drive the black truck WITH a heater this year, lol! i cant figure out why i keep popping these cores.. i have added the conditioner stuff to prevent electrolosis, straight antifreeze, half and half, you name it i tried it, and still they leak.. it wasnt a big deal during summer of course, but id like to get it fixed so when i get my new clutch in i can drive it and not freeze to death lol.. any suggestions as to what i can try on the next heater core? tia!

the first was an advance auto, and the second was from napa..

Thats most of your problem. Get a mopar. Check the cooling system for pressurization. My moms old VW will blow a core every 3 months, it has a tiny crack somewhere letting compression in the cooling system.

ok. i should have done that in the first place lol.. so what youre saying is say if there is a small say headgasket leak it can cause this to happen? if so im wondering since i have a rebuilt motor in it now, maybe i will get lucky and the next one wont blow out on me..

Exactly, we notice on moms that the VW cores lasted a month more. And when I worked at advance they seemed to be warretied quite often.

ok cool.. if by chance i still have a compression leak somewhere, is there any way to get around it?

ok ill try a mopar one and hope for the best lol.. thanks for the help roachie!
