Hey guys,
so i was driving home the other night and i noticed a coolent smell had the defrost on low and my windshield started to fog up so i kicked it to high and all my windows fogged up. Does it sound like a bad core or is there something else i can check? i didn't feel the passenger floor to see if it was leaking but when the windows fogged i figured it was probably the core was leaking.

Thanks for your help
Austin

P.S. truck is a 98.5 24v

have you had any problems with them leaking at the clamp like everyone is saying or do you think it's ok to just use them?

i tightened them up real good. filled up my rad then stuck cardboard in the rad and highidled it till it came up to temp so it got hot then tightened them.

I'm having the same problem. But even if it's just leaking why wouldn't i have any heat period?

it could be that it's plugged up and not passing any coolent at all (just a guess) if you pull your glove box off you can get your hand up in the dash and feel the inlet and outlet and if one's cold it's plugged up

well... yeah they arn't designed all that great to begin with.... all the debris in the cooling system settles in the bottom of the core.... kinda dumb really, but whatever.... it's not that hard to change out though.

also i'd double hose clamp the hoses to the core if you did it my way (hose from core to hardlines on exhaust manifold through the firewall) mine started to seep a bit, they are now double clamped and tight.
