Is it safe to use the bolt for the gear retainer more than once? I know it doesn't require very much torque, but I'm just trying to be on the safe side. The cam was only installed once and has maybe 1500 miles on it.

Thanks in advance, Aaron

I would say Heck Yeah!!! It's only 20 ft. lbs. PLUS 180*......When we did mine, There's No way it yielded....

Maybe DonM will chime in but you could also PM him for the answer..He's Soup Nazi here on CompD

Cool, wasn't sure if the 20 lbs was at the yield limit or what. Just trying to get all my eggs in one basket before I do my pump conversion. Do it once, do it right...I think:bang

You cn sue it over and over, but I dont like the Helix 2 being used behind a P pump. There is an increased risk of breakage with a cast iron cam and P pump.

We can do a trade in deal or something like this to get you into a Billet cam and take the cast iron cam back in partial trade.

Aaron, Take Don up on his trade in deal....Get the Billet and you'll be set!!! That a great option he's given ya.....

Just drove mine back home from getting the Spartan installed. Very nice. Thanks again Don.

I would be interested in the trade in program. I have an H2 Helix cam in a 13mm pumped truck. Can you pm me the details Don?

how many 12V cams did you sell before you came to this revelation?:kick: I have one for over a year now with no probs on a built 12mm p-pump.

I hurts me to say that the spartan cam is a very nice piece. Good product Don. BTW love the injectors. They dont smoke at all!!

Would like to know also. Running a 13mm pump and Helix 2 as well. No problems at all though.

Tons of people have a cast iron helix 2 and a P pump. Myself included. I have a 13mm pump too. I get nervous when I rev it up past 4000 though.

The biggest issue is when you let off the throttle abruptly. All that wound up energy has to go somewhere. I try and not do that.

I decided to recommend no cast cams with a P pump after 2 have broken over the last 5 years. Both were behind P pumps. One was a racing situation where the vaccum pump exploded so I do not know if the cam was at fault or not. The second was last summer. I dont know the situation behind the failure. Only that it happened. Oddly enough, both pumps were 12mm's and plenty of people have a 13 with never a breakage. Weird

The billet addresses the strength issue by hundreds of percent. If your converting to a P pump or going to a big P pump I would make an argument to install the billet.

Well hook us cast H2 owners up with a billet!
