Its a small town here and just about every year the town has a local diesel truck pull. No ttpa trucks allowed. Here is the truck that won last, Roughly how much hp do you guys think he is making? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I5HsZCVJrk

I have a reg cab 7.3, I'm going to try to beat him this year. I know its not going to be easy, especially since I've never pulled before. I do know a few things though. First I want your thoughts on how much power that guy is making, then I'll tell you what I have done do the truck and estimated hp, and see if its possible that a ole 7.3 can beat a Cummins.

isnt that vaders truck? he is a ttpa truck ? and the only way your gonna take that truck is by p-pumpin your 7.3 . sorry but your SOL one this one

All I got to say is good friggin luck and I hoped your LOADED. Phucken LOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDED

But seriously if you pull it off more power to ya :cheer:

There's no way to tell how much hp that truck is making. And without specs on your truck I can't even give you odds.

You want a 7.3 to beat a Cummins.....I can help. But if you are the "I got a chip, intake, and traction bars" kinda person, your pissing in the wind. Especially if you are gonna "give us and estimate of hp"

Information and openness is key when you need help. Beating a cummins at sled pulling is a tall order. But it can be done. But it takes deep pockets, lots of work, and the ability to learn from being beat.

I can help you better your chances, but I need info.

Oh I know this isn't going to be easy. Now that I'm thinking, I think all the years before they let the local trucks pull in the same class as the ttpa trucks :bang So that cummins may have been a ttpa truck. Which would really help me out, because I don't know of any local trucks that are making any serious power, but there are a few making pretty dang good power though.

Here is what I think I need to add,
Front weights, hung to the drivers side
Pulling hitch as high and forward and rules allow
Bump stops
Already have traction bars in rear

I'm running an AT tire right now, I'm thinking rear air pressure around 60 and front around 30. Too much? to little?

I'm guessing my hp right around 575. Mods are
head studs, valve springs, push rods, 255/200 swamps injectors, duel fuel pumps, regulated return, water injection,74mm s-300 turbo, HPOP, beans tunes. That pretty much takes care of the hp mods, I know there are a few little things i'm forgetting.

First, I think you are a tad steep on your hp guess but I'm not a powers stroke guy, your off to a good start I suppose. Second, I'm pretty sure if that cummings turbo deezel was running right it would be way beyond 575 hp and I know power isn't everything but you don't even have the experience advantage. Now go put there and lose! A lot... maybe by next year you will have all your woes and techniques figured out and you'll kick his ass 7.3 style

Who's rules are you running by? That helps with the setup. And the biggest question are they going to tech, you or weigh you? Sounds like you have a great start on the motor. Not sure if it would be 575, but who knows. Dyno's clear that up in short order. But with what you have, you should be able to make alot of them sweat for sure.

So we need rules, and class. Then we can go from there.

I need to make a few phone calls and find out. I know they aren't going to be to fussy with the rules. They are just happy to get people over there to pull, but i'm going to find everything out asap. The pull is July 3rd, and its all local trucks, thats as much as I know as of now.

How do the Dmaxs pull compared to the cummins? I know there will be a few there

Found out that the TTPA trucks are pulling Friday and the local diesels are pulling Saturday, so at least I won't have too worry about them

Pontiacross is running a stock bottom end too.:bow:

Thats what I heard, I still don't see how its holding.

Another question, When hooked to the sled, do you want to start out slow then floor it once you get 10-15ft out, or just get the sled moving a few inchs then floor it?

Try using the search feature before you get all the ol crustys in here tearing you a new one. Ive never looked for this specific thing but Im sure guys like you have asked that question a bazillion times along with tons of other questions you may have. This site is HUUUUUGGGGEEE and there is tons of info already on here.

Just my $.02

Depends on the track, sled, all kinds of stuff. Most the time you want to drop the hammer pretty quick. If all the other trucks are blowin the tires off the try to feather it a little bit.

id swear ive seen that vid on here...thought he was a member. in any case...its nothin personal, but crs can and have made 570's with the stock turbo and i hear some serious whistle from that one. so ur pretty much up chit creek with no paddle lol its not a cheap mans sport and being different is fun.

good luck to ya

pullin aint all about power... ive outpulled plenty of trucks makin 1- 200hp more than me. setup is key

255cc's X 2.3ish HP per CC in a 7.3 (with proper supporting mods) = 585ish.

Thuglike is around 630 on a 250cc injector. Think he's runnin more turbo though, and terminators.

The faster nozzle is gonna help deliver more of that fuel in the optimal window too, so 575 and better is very possible with them.

Variable here is the HPO. Dunno what the OP is running.

Tooooning.

Period.

Tons of hybrids runnin around on PMR's this past year.

Two years ago that was impossible.
