I happend to stumble across this turbo here while back. The guy told me I could have it so i packed it to the truck. I dont have the slightest clue as to what it is. Im planning on using it in a quick change twins idea that i have rolling around in my head. It has a T6 flange and a 3.25 inducer. I havnt had it apart yet. It needs a rebuild but I need to figure out what it is so I can get a kit for it. Can anyone help me out??

Thanks
Lynn

At first glance i thought it was a HT3B but after further studying of the pics i dunno! Not familar with that style center section clamp. Does it clamp both the exh and comp housings together with 1 band.

HT4, i would say the turbo came off a 855 cummins truck engine.

I'm not familiar with these either but you are correct on the clamp...my uncle has one in his truck parts collection and told me I could have it...after some close inspection I decided to leave it collect dust.

HT4, thats just a heat blocker, i would say the turbo came off a 855 cummins truck engine.

Too small for that not? Maybe it's just smaller than the HT4s that I'm familiar with.

I not sure than, it is at least a holset, maybe, and a HT series due to the reverse rotation, The inducer size fits as well, HT4=HC5 only it turns the other way. Although now that i look at it, it could be an older cummins branded charger.

I don't doubt that it's off an 855 engine or at least something close in size but did you notice how skinny the exhaust housing is?

I know I know!!!!!!!!!!
T46B
Looks like the feed and drain are on the same side right. ??????

Thats an old school hot rod turbo for the 855. late 70's early 80's

It will not like spinning very fast, but she'll move some air.

Yeah its 1 clamp that holds everything together, and I did notice that the oil ports are close together. Just wonder if it would be worth using it as a twin set up?

good catch Snedge, I dont think I have ever seen one of those before, that one peice clamp just screams Cummins, same as the T50 on my small cam. I still think it looks like a pre-cursor to the HT4.$.02

Screw twins, use it as a single lol. We can try to fab up something for a twins setup, but I don't know how well that turbo is gonna work with the S465 you got now.

Well fab me up a T4 to T6 adapter then ol pal....:hehe:

I dont know how well it woukd act either but its bound to be big enough.
Took her all apart the compressor wheel measures 4.600 which I think is like a 116mm wheel. Im still tryn to get the exh housing off.....:charger:
Took an impact and got her freed up where she will spin but all the seals are shot.
Anyone know where a kit can be found for this or am I wasting my time???
If i am wasting my time could anyone make a suggestion as to what charger I can pair with my s465 to make a good set of pulling twins??

Thanks
Lynn

i would think an hx40 would be a good match with that s465. i drag race, so i aint real sure what they would do for sled pullin. i would imagine pretty good.
just my opinion though.

That would work, but keep in mind he wants to use the S465 as the "little" charger, and possibly the "big burtha" charger he has in the shop floor as the bottom charger. either that or something else as the bottom charger. Wonder how an S510 would work with the S465?

I'd scrap the idea all together and find something else (bigger) to run under the 465. Seems to me you need and HC5 or hx 80ish.

Lynn I have one of those sitting up on the shelf if you want one to match that one it is your buddy you just have to come and get it:Cheer:.it is a cummins turbo.smaller than a hx 80 and a HC5A.

I have been aiming on making a trip your direction anyways. Just to see all the progress in person. :Cheer:
