I was driving my truck last night got down on it in fourth gear when it got winded out it made a hellacious noise poppin sounded like fire crackers coming out the exhaust then when i slowed down it sounded like motor was knocking I limped it home to discover the rocker had jumped off pushrod and pulled.the.threads out of head o could screw threads off of the bolt that holds.rocker on and now it want tighten up any idea what causes this and what's best quickest fox was hopein to pull tonifhtt

Helicoil will be your quickest fix. Pull the pushrod and make sure it's not bent or cracked. It most likely stripped the thread due to improper bolt torque.

yes. Be sure the torque wrench is not broke! LOL I just use a standard length 3/8 drive ratchet and snug them good.

I had one pull out and I replaced the bolts with rocker arm studs. I've had it over 4k a few times with no problems. I may have just gotten lucky, but there was plenty of thread left to catch at the bottom.

Ya I think that's what I'm going to try unless I didn't see all the thread not much came off. I can start the bolt with rocker off but not with it on. Could this have been caused by valve floating I've been wondering If that's not been my whole issue with my tuck on the track it spits and pops on top end and falls on it's face. When it did last night I just had hooked up a edge it was on level 3 it kidna sounded like same noise as it does on track except it was wayyyyyy louder last night.

Had same issue just happen did the rocker arm studs work? or did you do something else?

Popping could also be fuel pressure.

This happened to me once when I was running a p-pumped 24v. Turns out the cam gear walked.

if you still have stock valve springs i would say floating valves are you problem.

Also make sure to clean out the bolt hole before running the bolt in next time. I had one do the same to me, and found a little oil in the bolt hole. Sprayed some brake cleaner in the hole, then blew it out with compressed air, helicoiled it, then torqued down to 27, has been good to go ever since...
