in the process right now installing a kenneys triple non weighted clutch in a NV4500....is the standard 1/8" spacing with the shims between the pressure plate and the surface of the flywheel what I'm aiming for?

Thanks....I'm in the garage at a stand still!

from my understanding the shims are about .015" just stacked up. All they control is the pressure applied to the pressure plate or the depth of the finger bars. If you were to take a shim out the finger bars would draw in towards the flywheel. You want your finger bars even or just a little under the surface of the pressure plate. Therefore if you have the clutch all bolted up and tight, lay a straight edge across the pressure plate and the finger bars should just touch the straight edge or have a small gap possibly 1/16" but they shouldn't protrude out of the pressure plate. if they do you may have to take a shim out. one shim will make a big difference. I hope that is the information you are looking for.
