The rear axle will only lock up in the dirt{sometimes} and ain't gonna lock up on pavement. My truck is a 02 4x4 with 70 rearend, and i've seen stock trucks do better burnouts than me because both tires are spinning.
Can someone tell me why mine won't lockup. Thanks in advance,Stephen

Are you sure it is a LSD rear? Not all trucks came with LSD. Mine did not. It should have a small tag on the rear cover stating "use LSD additive" (or words to that effect) if it is not an open carrier.

I have not had the cover off and i will check the numbers on the diff and see what i have.
I think someone local to me shot me a line of crap when he said somthing about a spring pin i could install and lock it up?
Is it best to go with a aftermarket locker or just buy a stock LSD unit?
Thanks,Stephen

dodge makes two different lsd, one is light duty, and the other is supposed to be really good, I must have the light duty, I changed rear lube and mine works occasionally. The good one has a slot(oval) where the crosspin goes instead of a circle. Just what I have read on internet.

You can pull the diff out and reverse the clutch packs in it for MUCH more aggressive engagement. From the factory the clutch pucks in at least the D80 are installed backwards to soften the lock/unlock for driver comfort.
