So i have a 02 dodge 2500 with an auto suncoast tranny, and i have recently developed some weird problems. A few night ago i had a dead miss in the truck, in turn lead to leaving me stranded. Which i came back the next day to find that i had a broke signal wire to the pump. So i spliced that back together and started the truck seemed to be running ok. O and might i add that it has a fass fuel system. Anyway i started up the road and the truck wouldnt open up so i mashed on in it and it was back the the dead miss but would try to open up. After this i turned the comp box on and it would halfway open up but it still wasnt right, although there was no miss. So i ran the truck like that for few days, and than i was coming home later that week and i started gettin a semi unresponseive throttle. If you held it steady it would cut out and miss and than after you would let off of it, it would still be fueling the truck. After i got it home and stopped it would idle just fine but as soon as you give it fuel it would happen again all the while the coolant temp gauge was going crazy.

Sounds like a dead APPS or a dying VP. Check the codes and let us know what they are.

i checked the codes and all it was giving was high and low voltage to the tach and low voltage to the apps, but why would the coolant temp be going crazy

my truck did somethin similar to this problem and it turned out to be a dying vp and a blown head gasket

Definately adjust the APPS out on it. The low voltage TPS code should go away after that, if it doesn't then you might need to actually replace it. Another place to look into might be in the cam/ crank sensor area. On your 02, you will have both, and I am not sure which one feeds the tach signal. THe actual coolant gauge going up and down might just be low coolant. Do you have an actual FP gauge on the truck? Just because you have a FASS does not eliminate an actual fuel pressure problem.

I have a fuel pressure gauge and it holds a steady 13-15 lbs, i was leaning towards replacing the ecm.

No it doesn't. 98.5-00 or 01.4 has both a cam/crank sensor. Later years only have a cam sensor. My 01.5 only has a cam sensor.
