Well I'm makin a winch mount and hookin up a new winch for my friend on his 2nd gen 24 valve. Its a 6 speed with an edge juice with attitude chip and 100 horse injectors and he just left his truck with me all week so I can work on it and he's gone for the week. I went to start it tonight and moved it a little ways and shut it off but its got a cooldown timer in the chip so it waits to cool off then shuts down even with the key off (I've got a BD cooldown timer on my truck so I'm familiar with it) but while it was sitting there idling and cooling down to shut off, the rpms start to creep up a a little bit, then a little bit more and started revvin up some more and acted like it was kind of running away? or is this normal on these trucks to have a high idle or rev higher in the cold? It was cooled down enough so i just hit the brake to shut it off and shut it down but wasn't sure if this was normal or not, I just didn't wanna mess up my buddy's truck. Sorry if this is a stupid question but i'm not to used to these newer electronic trucks. Thanks

not real sure, I was just listenin to the stacks on it then noticed it was creeping up in rpm with the key off, probably not more than like 1200 rpm before i shut it down, it wasn't going up way fast but slowly. But its fairly cold and the grids were really cycling so i was just wonderin if it was normal and just bringin up the rpm in the cold since it was suckin quite a bit of power? Or does this chip with the cooldown timer bring the rpm up to help cool the truck down faster?

i almost want to say it was going into high idle, im not sure what tells them to go into high idle mode so i cant say for sure.....

High idle is when idling in neutral or park and ambient temp is below a certain temp such as 32F and coolant temp is under 140F. Then the RPM creeps up to about 1200. If it is colder such as close to single digits then it idles on 3 cylinders.

FYI, the first time you hear one of those things go into 3 cylinder high idle, you will about sh!t yourself, it sounds like they are losing a rod LOL

Alright that must of been goin into high idle then cuz it had been sittin a few days and it was colder than 32 I bet. It just kind of scared me for a second cuz the key was off and the rpms were creepin up and i was like uh...so i just shut it down, especially where its not mine, and then this morning I went to take it to town and the chip came on and everything when i started it and let it idle and warm up in the driveway and then I went to drive it and all the numbers on the monitor stayed the same and didn't move while i was driving, then the screen went blank? so i was wondering if i came loose somewhere? or do they not like the cold? I bet the 3 cylinder high idle sounds disturbing! hope I don't have to hear that on this truck
