Can't find any correct information, every thread it seems like people all disagree.. Can someone tell me definitively whether a H.O. VP44 (028) that is designed for a 2001-2002 245 HP motor in front of a 6 speed will work on a 235 HP engine that had a SO VP44 (027)????

Not interested in which makes more power or which one you can stack more chips on and stuff, just if the HO pump I have laying around will get this guy back on the road or not. THANKS!!!

I enjoy the Lays stacks.

Why the Efff are you guy's jacking his thread when It's clear that some poeple on here want some real INFO!!!! You don't know me but I can Cause some Hardaches if I try to pull stings!!!

jd468megawide Sorry about Jack Leggs like them. As I hear it No the HO will not work on the SO motor, I'm in the same boat as you. I think I have a bad SO Vp-44 and if I remember correctly the SO pump is capable of more HP in the long run than the HO pump. I MAYBE wrong but hopefully someone will chime in here with some usefull info!!!!

I'm like more info on this too!!!

Two years ago I helped a friend in auto tech at school swap a VP from SO to a HO motor. Put the HO pump on the SO motor. Reason for swapping was cause the people bring broken non running stuff to the school for free labor and students get to learn. One VP was rebuilt before the other and one person need his truck back sooner than the other. All cranked and ran fine.. Sezz

I also used the search button and found some info after 4 minutes of sifting thought articles...

Only problem that wasn't answered that he may find when he did his research is that some had their ECM reflashed for the other pump. The two we did ran fine. The ECM was reset but not reflashed.

I was asking myself the same thing, not sure why the cop car guy even brought up lays chips at all. I'm an old guy, they must not like that kind of wording I used. Ah well so it goes....

BUMP!! So one guy says it will work then he says the ECM might need flashed.... Anybody able to say definitively before I waste this guy's money on installing this pump on his truck?? Normally, i wouldn't even think about doing this on a customer's truck, I would normally order the correct pump, but this guy is poooor and a nice guy I would really like to help him out with this used pump.

Well I tell you what, I'll pay shipping from and back to you so I can try in on my dead truck and see if my VP is truely dead or not. Here is my dilema:

Strange Issues on 01 - Competition Diesel.Com - Bringing The BEST Together

I'll PM you all my info and we can exchange Phone numbers to be safe.

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place as you can see in my thread. Either the ECM or the VP. Let me know

That really sucks................ Sure sounds good, I would be more than happy to let you try it out if this guy decides tomorrow he doesn't want to pay to try this pump out on his. IF not, I know a guy, his name is John, he hangs out on a small forum - Mopar1973Man's Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum his user handle is smokeythedodge. He knows his stuff and has a few parts laying around, might hollar at him I lost his number or I would just give it to you.

Yea that's where I've been getting alot of my Troubleshooting info. I even talked to Michael the site admin on the phone the other night. Let me know what you come up with and what the other guy who's truck your working on does. I need to do something cause I believe the next step Is gonna cost Big Bucks! LOL

The HO pump will work on a SO motor with no flashing to the ECM. I have done 2 swaps from SO to HO just to get the trucks running. One truck is still running the pump after 4yrs.

The HO will work on the SO motor. I got better performace from the HO pump.
