Hood Stack Question

Hey everyone, I got a buddy with a 01 cummins and has got a lot of hot mods done and is begging me to help him install a hood stack but before i do it I wana check if anyone knows if this is illegal in Indiana?

I drive around my fummins with the hood stack quite a bit on the weekends and never got questioned or pulled over for it and i have had some close calls haha :hehe: from what ive read there is no law about it having to exit behind the cab and in indiana a turbocharger is classified as a muffler with no need for a cat on a diesel...
 
Might be easier to ask a cop or look up the law online than to just go by word or mouth...

Against the law and not getting pulled over is alot different than actually legal. But it is your buddies truck and not yours, so knock yourself out! LOL
 
Most states have laws that require the exhaust exit after the passanger compartment.

It's only illegal if you get caught. But if you do, and they have laws on that, you might also get hit for not having a muffler, modifying a stock exhaust system (beleive it or not, that is against the law in Idaho.. Most cops would never write a ticket for it, but if you were being an asshole, if they they had a bad day...), obstructing the front windshield (some cops write tickets for stickers that they think are doing that)...

Basically, what I'm saying is that if he does it, and he gets pulled over, it better damn well be "yes sir." "no sir." the entire time... Because he could easily get 6-8 very, very big tickets depending on the state he is in.
