this has problly been up a million times before but i have some question that have been festering under the skin for a while. i change my fuel filter every ttime i change my oil which is about every 6-7000 miles. and i have my transmission flushed very 30,000 miles. do any of yall doo this or is it just a waste of money? anyway what are the intervales that yall change that stuff at and if there is somthng that should be done at that time that i am not doin add it in. thanks

Well i never change my oil so i would say a good 200,000 mile interval on the oil change :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: that sounds about right on the oil and fuel changes its about the same i used to do just be safe and clean.

Oil every 5k

Fuel Filter every 10k

Tire rotation every oil change, air filter check as well. Check rear brake adjustment every 10k as well and your tranny service interval sounds about right.

Oil every 3k. Trans every 1k. Rear-end/t-case one year. According to the oil analysis and my eyes, it's worth it.

Yes, but my application is beyond severe duty. The truck has turned into something that pretty much races or gets parked in the shed. There's a decent amount of clutch dust that comes out with the old fluid, that's why I think it's worth the maintenance.

Holy smoke Brandon. My tranny holds well over $100 in fluid. Are you serious?

my last fluid change cost $180 all Royal Purple Max ATF plus a bottle of red lube guard.

You see, when your gov. pressure solenoid clogs every 2K miles and Bill needs you to adjust something in the valve body in between that... well then you change your fluid every 1K.... just try keeping up with Brandon and your truck is sure to catch the syndrome(its contagious)!

i change my oil every 4 to 5k and a fuel filter bout every 3 oil changes. trany is bout every 20k or as needed. u really dont need to cahnge the fuel filter every oil change.

Oil and filter change ever 10K. Fuel filter ever 20K. I'm a tight ass. It will catch me someday. I'm seriously contemplating the bypass oil filter because of this. It may just be worth it.

there is no need to do the trans every 1k unless it is a trailer queen like you say. If it is a street driver then i think its recomended at 20k, but for the way that most of us drive it should be closer to 10-15k. The diffs should be good for 30k and i change my oil every 3k if i use conventional (i know im not pushin big injectors but i still wonder about washdown) then if i use synthetic i will run it close to 10k, but thats really alot of miles. then i change my fuel filter about every 6k or every other conventional change. If you have a fp guage then you can get an idea when its gettin dirty.

i change my oil every 3k and well the tranny doenst last long enough to worry about changing it, but the ATS warr. asks for every 15k

Bare with me Brandon, what exactly happens when you run fluid with a decent amount of clutch dust ?

No doubt wear and that it's best to have the abrasive material removed from the system.

Mainly what are the high wear items ?

The following statement is my opinion, no matter how wrong it may be... ;)

The planetaries are the first thing that comes to mind, then all the bronze bushings throughout the tranny. Transmissions love good, clean fluid. A wise transmission rebuilder once told me that if everyone flushed tranny fluid every 15k miles he'd go out of business.

oil and fuel filter change once year lol
but I only drive my truck 2-3 days a week just about 7000k per year if that. The joys of driving a work truck 5 days a week

3-5k on an oil change is a waste. It's not a gasser. 8-10k easy.
I have a trailer queen and I service my trans about every 6 months. Never had a problem and its an auto.

I change the trans and transfer fluid when I change the trans. Thats only 4 changes in the last 5000 miles/year.

What's your oil's flashpoint (in F) after 3k miles?
