to remove the wheel bearing while doing ball joints? just did both sides, uppers and lowers....what took the longest was the wheel bearing removal! how long did it take you, what method did you use.

Snap on has a special socket. Remove four bolts. Reinstall a few threads. Install deep well style socket. Start engine and crank wheel. It'll pop right out.

About an hour or so per side. I use a port a power. A small hydraulic press. We take the press on one side and put a custom punch on the other side to the bearing and axle to hold it and push on the other side then switch sides back and forth till its loose. Takes bout 5 min to pop off

It takes me about an hour a side as well. I use a brass drift and a 1.5lb hammer. I just loosen the bolts 3-4 turns and pound the bolts out in a cross pattern (from the backside)until the bolt head makes contact. Repeat the process until it's loose and your good to go.

we did the power steering to press on the bolts, did not work with either side, made a "gear puller" type thing to pull on the hub and press in on the axle shaft, between the hub puller and a air hammer they finally came loose. was a PITA. then today i replaced all tie rods/ends/sleeves, and the track bar, already had a gear box brace...then i aligned it and now it drives great. all moog products were used, man that was expensive but it was worth it in the end i think.

I hope you thought ahead and cleaned and put anti-seize on them, otherwise if you ever have to take them off again you will really be cussing.

hope you kept your reciept for all those moog parts. how come you didnt get the 09' steering conversion? oh and it depends on how long the truck has been together to get apart for me. have had some fall apart and others not so much.

I put anti-seize on them when I first replaced the hub bearings. Didn't seem to make a difference when I had to do the ball joints.

We typically heat the knuckle with a torch and drive them out by hitting the backside of the flange with a 3 lb sledge. Destructive? Yes, but I planned on replacing them anyway. 15-20 minutes per side I'd guess between heating and beating.

Bad luck with Moog? I have play in one of my Moog upper ball joints already. Can't remember how many miles are on it.

yep and not just on dodge trucks either. the local parts store quit honoring the warranty for them, if that tells you anything! i understand that steering parts are always gonna wear out. just not in the time frame these did.

kept reciepts and did think ahead and put anti seize on the bearings
