I am trying to diagnose a rattle/noise I have at high RPm/high boost.

I started to notice it 2 weeks ago and thought it was too much cetane, but after some fresh fuel its still there.

I get it above 60% throttle, 40psi boost, 23K RP, sounds like either pressure rattle or timing rattle, but its only above 2500rpms and with the above conditions.

Took the Smarty/MP-8 out and its still there just not quite as loud.
I DD with SW#7 TM-1 (stock) RP-1 and TQ-1

How loud is yours???

I can hear mine when the passenger side is aginst somethng that deflects sound, I can hear it with the windows down and the stereo on normal volume. As I turn the Smarty or MP-8 up the sound gets louder.

I have become more and more contientious about certian sounds with my truck...just wonder if Im just getting paranoid of not. After my buddy JP's truck, i dont want to miss ANY signs of impending doom.

My truck has little/no injector noise at high RPMS. Are you sure you don't have some sort of exhaust leak?

yeah weird I usually only hear injector noise or rattle during spoolup????

BINGO RICH!!!! :thankyou2:

Way to go, looks like that might be the cause, I found the two nuts on the studs on the back of the flange that hold the turbo on, missing!!!:bang

Got one back on, need to get another one, but from the looks of it thats what my rattle was. Just a huge exhaust leak at high DP forcing their way through the flange and creating a rattling sound.

I will know more in the morning when I go rail on it, but hopefully that was it.

I was becomming VERY concerned, after JP's truck...every little noise is freaking me out!!!

Schweet!!! Glad you got it fugured out, I'll bet you even get more power out of it!

I hear ya about JP's situation. Some of the discussion makes me wish I wouldn't have replaced my 03...
