how do you do it. I drove the mega cb on a trip last weekend and it is nice not drifting all over the road. I have a leveling kit and 33's. what does it take and how much will it cost?

Get the 3rd gen steering box and adapter kit (can't remember where I've seen it for sale), thuren's crossover steering kit, and thurens track bar. That should take care of it. Oh, new ball joints wouldn't hurt either.

Hmmm, never heard of that one. If you find the info again, drop us a link.

I'll see what I can dig up. Pretty pricey if i remember correctly.

Track bar keeps the front axle aligned with the frame. The 3rd gens have a better design but still prone to wearing out the bushing.

3 gen trac bar up grade is an awesome up date.....and get the steering box brace

i have done both and it helps a lot....not sure if you will ever get it to a 06 but you will be a lot closer

wildhorsesuspension.com is the company I think your looking for for the 3rd gen. steering box conversion.

I'd try a steering box brace though. That and sometype of trackbar upgrade should help your steering wander out a lot.

Get the 3rd gen tracbar bracket, that conversion alone made a HUGE difference in mine. They are easy to put on also, I did mine in the parking lot at Steele, if I had remembered my pickle fork it wouldn't have taken over 2 hours LOL

I drove a truck with this conversion.

I didn't spend enough seat time to see if it made a huge difference with the wandering..

But I can say it took ALL the slop out of the box. You can grab my wheel of my truck going down the road and twist it back and forth about 4" each direction before the input gets to the tires. This was instant. Felt 110% better.

happier with the 1200 dollars and bouncing between the white and yellow line, but my look at the track bar thanks guys

Mine's that way. I need to get a new box. I've had horrible luck with steering boxes on this truck. I've got the DSS brace and crossover steering and thuren's track bar and the rock ram steering bushing and my boxes still go out. It's such a pain to keep replacing these things. Oh well. At least they are lifetime warranty.

And on that kit, I'd go and get a reman'd steering box and make my own adapter plate and buy the rest of the stuff from that guy. I can only imagine how much dodge wants for that box brand new. Out of curiosity I called and they wan $440 for a new steering box for an 03. That's a 1/3 of the cost of the kit.

Sweet. The original scooby doo cartoons are on cartoon network. And don knotts guest stars!

If I recall correctly, he won't part out his kit. You can either buy the entire thing from him, or nothing at all. (at least, that was how it was when I was looking at doing the conversion.) I can see some logic behind it: you are talking about a very important system that could have some big legal consequences if anything fails. At least this way, he knows that everything going out the door is new (or meets his specs).

There just isn't a perfect fix for our crappy setup. The DSS with this kit is a fantastic bandaid for a bullet hole.

I understand where he's coming from but still. He'd probably sell a lot more if he would part them out. Oh well. Maybe when I get rich I'll do it cause I'm tired of swapping boxes.

I had 3 of them. None of them worked right. Each one had their own seperate issue. PSC was great and kept warrantying each box for me, but I got tired of changing them out. At least my o'reilly box lasted 6 months or so before it started having issues.
