Trying to get an idea on whether I should go a different direction.... currently set to run a NP205 in my project truck, but maybe better of with a 241?

How many pulls on a 241DHD do you have? And how much torque are you laying down?

:Cheer:

I have had great luck with the 271 case. Never got a chance to pull with the 241DHD, it broke from abusive off-road trail use before I could find out.

If you are debating going to a 241 DHD you might as well upgrade to the 271 and save your money. It is only a matter of time before you break the 241.

241DHD will last awhile in these trucks pulling. i know lots of strong 12v trucks with them.

its the DLD that is weak and will break easy.

260k on it, 3 years of pulling and no problems.
the only question i have about them, is there different sizes of output shafts on them?

I'm with ya on the 271 option.... my limiting factor is my narrow frame spacing (it's old school) at 31 inches! I have about 16 inches from rear output centerline to the outer casting on the case. I believe the 241 is within that at about 15 inches, but I thinking the 271 is getting close to 17 inches... anyone know for sure???

My truck has a 241 DLD. I tow heavy, run the snot out of it & sled pull occassionally. I've got 173k on it now & still counting. When it pops, I'm going 271.

241 DHD

150k miles/ 200 hooks easy, from stock to 8-900 at the wheels still in one piece NEVER apart. The things I can think of that make it live so long is, Truck never bounces, always hooks smooth, almost always pulled on the low side, well driven on track and off. good luck in that one area

DHD are just as good as the 271 in my opinion. They are just as tough. Cant go wrong with either.
